First up...
Please note: I don't want to be the crazy cake lady in town, and I don't want to be asked to bake a cake for your child's 3rd birthday party.
I do, however, want to be able to bake yummy treats for my family. In particular, yummy cupcakes, cakes, and cookies! I'd love to start by taking some basic baking classes at our local cooking school, and maybe a cake decorating class to learn how to make homemade frosting not look like a runny mess. Then I'd just like to practice at home for fun. The idea of baking cupcakes someday without using a Betty Crocked mix and frosting in a can is something I would love to do.
Next up...
Don't worry, I'm not one of those people that wants to buy a DSLR camera and start an on the side photography business, I promise. Basically I just want to invest in a non-point and shoot camera and be able to take nice, non-blurry pictures of my family. I think I'd need to take a few classes just to learn how to use it, and then just practice as much as I can. Once I learned how to take some decent pictures, I would love to learn some basic editing on Photoshop.
I haven't used Photoshop since high school yearbook, but I secretly long to be a Photoshop whiz! I'd love to take some classes on using it again because I know it has likely changed a ton since using it 8 years ago. I'd like to use Photoshop for not only photo editing, but also basic design for fun projects.
In all honesty, these aren't hobbies I'm going to be starting right away, but I'd like to start saving for a new camera and exploring my options as far as classes go.
Are there any hobbies out there that you'd love to pick up?

I'd love to get more into baking too! I love making treats, but right now they are by no means homemade :)
You should check out some of Ina Garten's baking recipes. They are quite easy and most everything I have ever made has come out tasting delicious. (the pb&j bars are the one exception...) Her recieps are for non-bakers (like me!)
Not gonna lie, I love frosting from a can!
Good luck with the photography hobby! I love it as a hobby. I don't ever want to go pro, but it's so fun to know I'm capturing great memories for now. I wouldn't trade my DSLR for anything in the world!
I also would love to get more into baking. Baked goods are probably my favorite things to cook (possibly because I love to eat them) so I would love to get better at it!
I love my DSLR, and I'm definitely not wanting to be a professional! I have the Canon Rebel T1i and I am so in love with it. It sounds dramatic, but it's changed my life! The picture quality, and the moments I've captured are irreplaceable. I've downloaded the dummies book on my iPad to familiarize myself more with it, and I bought a few accessories for it too. I hope you get one!
You crack'd me up with the line about not wanting to start a photography business...haha! Seriously, I feel everyone I know is doing that! I too want a non point & shoot! I just know that once I get a DSLR I'm not gonna put it down... I totally wanna take classes too because I don't wanna have it and not be able to use it...I just know it's gonna be a big time commitment. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
I'm definitely on the baking party train too :) I cook quite a bit, but I kind of want to learn to do some truly fabulous things just for fun!
These are two of my favorite hobbies! I love my DSLR and baking whenever I can. Although I think boxed cake mix can be okay, frosting in a can is a a major no-no! I have a recipe on my blog for cream cheese frosting and its so easy. i promise you can make it :)
I had to laugh about not baking cakes for parties and becoming a photographer. It seems like every person with an oven and a camera thinks they are a pro baker or photographer. Cracks me up. Glad to see you're starting with hobbies! I'm sure it's much more fun and less stressful. :)
If you want to start making cupcakes, you have to get the cupcake decorating kit from Bake It Pretty. It's a pastry bag and a set of four cupcake icing tips. They are awesome and make it so easy to ice your cupcakes. It makes them look so much prettier...and dare I say professional? Haha!
As for the photography, I have very vew tips. I got my dSLR for Christmas, took an 8 week class and now hardly use it. I still can't take a decent picture of food to post with my recipes. I need to work on my skills though - I will have a baby to photograph soon. Can't have crummy, blurry baby pictures!
Have fun with your new hobbies!
I think I have the baking hobby down (I hope you start--SO fun! :)), but I do want to improve my photography...just need to find the time!
I love your new hobbies! I am in need of some hobbies in the worst way.
I also love your comment about not becoming a pro-baker or pro-photographer... EVERYONE is doing that these days! Makes me batty.
